In addition to the national headquarters, there are area and district offices supporting approximately 33,000 post offices, branches, stations, and community post offices throughout the United States. The Postal Service has approximately 617,000 employees and handles about 200 billion pieces of mail annually generating more than $67 billion in operating revenues.
Postal and government jobs offer abundant opportunities within all fifty states and U.S. Territories. With more than 33,000 postal facilities in this country individuals have an excellent opportunity to apply for positions in thousands of small towns and in all major metropolitan areas.
To determine what job vacancies are available and when exams are scheduled visit the postal service’s web site or contact local postal facilities.
The postal service recently consolidated nine Customer Service Districts into seven. The sixty seven district offices listed with contact information are divided geographically into seven areas: Eastern, Northeastern, Capital Metro, Great lakes, Pacific, Southern, and Western.
District office’s Field Staffing Specialists can help during the application and testing process. Many applicants misplace the job announcement and correspondence they receive from the postal service. Job applicants should keep a copy of the job announcement for the position they applied and all correspondence including copies of email notifications for future reference. These documents include a contact name and number that you can call for assistance. If you misplaced the job announcement, exam notification, or your Candidate ID Number the district office’s Hiring / Staffing office will be able to help.
Click on the region that includes your location and then review the list for the district office nearest to you. Call the district office’s Field Staffing Specialist for help. If a number isn’t provided for the Hiring / Staffing office call the district manager’s number and ask to be transferred to their hiring office. A complete list of District Offices follow:
If you have an issue with your application or require information about a job announcement call the “Local Services Department” phone number and ask for the Field Staffing Specialist. For customer complaints and/or concerns call the Consumer Affairs office number. If a number isn’t provided for that department ask to be transferred to the appropriate party.
Note to the District Office Manager’s Staff. If we do not have a number for your local field staffing or customer affairs office listed here send us their direct phone number and we will add it to the list like we did for the Ohio Valley and Kentuckiana Districts. Send the numbers to [email protected]
